Chef Amar Santana has produced a name for himself as a Bravo “Top Chef” winner and govt chef and companion at eating places Broadway by Amar Santana in Laguna Beach and Vaca in Costa Mesa. But his story of good results begins with a nonprofit firm, Occupations by way of Culinary Arts Application, or C-CAP.

Santana moved to Queens from the Dominican Republic at age 13, and in higher school he enrolled in a plan referred to as Culinary Arts.

“Since I was a minor kid at home, I liked to cook dinner,” said Santana, “but I didn’t imagine that it was a job.”

When Santana dropped the cooking course the very first 12 months, he was mechanically enrolled back again in the class the next 12 months due to the fact it was a 4-year application. The second time all around, he took to the cooking.
